Creating a Pre-sale Coupon can be extremely useful if you want to distribute tickets before the sale date to a specific group of people or individuals, such as your mailing list.
This will make the event page “code-protected”; customers will need to enter a valid code to proceed to checkout.
Tip
Create a pre-sale code to test your event before making it live to the public!
Step-by-step Instructions
- Once you have successfully logged in, select the Manage button from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Select the Add Coupons button in the middle of the window.
- Select Coupon Type Presale and set the coupon name to be something which will help you identify it in your reports, e.g., “Demo Event Presale”, then set Code to be a code you would like to distribute, make it something hard to guess, NOT “presale”. Six characters or more is perfect.
- Select Save and Assign.
Selecting Events
The assign coupon page will appear. This will allow you to assign the coupon to any events you are running. You can add more coupons in one go by pressing Add another coupon to this assignment.
The two assignment options are:
Apply coupons globally across all events
Global coupons will automatically be assigned to every event you create, past & present. They’re handy if you want to use the same code for all your events. The ticket limit specifies the number of times the coupon can be used across all events.
For example, a ticket limit of 3 would allow the coupon to be used twice for “event 1” and once for “event 2” and then not allow any more uses across any events.
Assign to individual events
Coupons assigned to individual events and pricing levels will only be usable on those events and price levels selected during this step.
You will be asked to add events to the coupon press Add Events and then select the events you wish to assign the coupon to, as they are selected they will move into the right column. Once all the events have been selected press Make Selection to confirm.
You will then be asked to either apply the coupon to all price levels or to choose individual price levels.
Leave selected on all price levels. Presale codes cannot be assigned to individual price levels; only to events. They will provide access to all non-hidden price levels online.
Coupon Limiting
Select one of the following options:
Coupon limits apply to each selection individually – will allow the ticket limit to apply to each event selected e.g. a ticket limit of 5 will allow 5 redemptions for each selected event.
Coupon limits apply to these selections as a group – will allow the ticket limit to limit the total number of uses across all selected events. e.g. A ticket limit of 3 will allow the coupon to be used twice on “Event 1” and once on “Event 2” and no more times thereafter.
Total Coupons Available: The maximum amount of orders that can use this code*
Limit per Order: The maximum amount of tickets that can be purchased using this code per transaction.
Taggable will allow attendees to automatically input the coupon by appending it to the event URL in the format:
http://events.ticketbooth.com.au/event/demo-event/tag/presale
(where demo-event is replaced by your event URL and presale is replaced by your code.)
A start and end date for the coupon can also be set; consider this the coupon's expiry date, after which it will no longer be accepted.
*For high demand, we recommend making this field unlimited by making it 9999999, and setting the limits for purchasing via the inventory in the event creation. If not, and the code reaches its limit, customers will see a pop-up saying the code has "reached its limit" instead of letting them into the event and showing that the price level is sold out.
