Enabling Afterpay

Enable Afterpay on Events

On the Event Details page, Afterpay can be enabled or disabled under the 'About Event' settings. Once an event has been flagged as 'Eligible for buy now, pay later', by default, all Price Levels will also be flagged as eligible.*

However, you can then edit the eligibility of individual Price Levels, Products, and Bundles.

*Afterpay will only appear for customers when ALL items in their cart are eligible.

Flagging Eligible Price Levels

  1. In the Event Inventory settings, click the edit icon to open the Price Level settings
  2. Select (or uncheck) the Eligible for buy now, pay later option

Please note that the setting to adjust price level eligibility is only visible if the Event is enabled for Afterpay.

Enable Series Events for Afterpay

On the Event Details page, Afterpay can be enabled or disabled under the 'About Event' settings.

Once a Series has been flagged as 'Eligible for buy now, pay later', by default, all Price Levels and all Child Events will also be flagged as eligible.*

Please note the following:

  • You may then edit the eligibility of Series Price Levels, which will push "eligible" status down to the Child Event Price Levels.
  • At this time, you may also adjust the eligibility status of individual Price Levels at the Child Event Level to differ from the Series Event Price Level eligibility status, pending that the Series Event has been enabled for buy now, pay later.
  • However, you are unable to adjust the eligibility of Child Events within a Series at this time. All Events within a Series are either eligible or ineligible. Users will be unable to click or unclick the "eligible" box at the Child Event level.
  • Afterpay/Buy Now, Pay Later is currently not an option in the bulk update tool

Reminder that Afterpay will only appear for customers when ALL items in their cart are eligible.

Flagging Products for Afterpay

  1. The Not eligible for buy now setting is on Step 2 of the Product settings.
  2. Select Yes for Not eligible for Buy now, pay later and save

Flagging Bundles for Afterpay

Bundles are flagged based on their contents, so there is no need to flag bundles themselves. A bundle containing any price level or product flagged as ineligible will render the entire bundle ineligible.

FAQs

Where should customers be redirected to contact Afterpay?

Customers should be redirected to the Afterpay Help Centre for any Afterpay account, billing, login, or other needs. The Afterpay Help Centre also offers detailed FAQs for consumers.

Can Afterpay Orders be refunded?

Yes - Afterpay orders are refundable up to 180 days after the sale date through the admin and follow the same reconciliation process, just like any other credit card payment type sale. When refund requests are initiated, funds are reversed in Stripe, and Afterpay is notified to return the appropriate funds to the customer.

Note that Event Ticketing has no insight into the progress of Afterpay instalments. Customers will need to direct questions about the refund amount to Afterpay customer service. Customers will receive a refund notification from Afterpay via email confirming the amount returned.

What happens when a customer doesn’t complete their Afterpay installments?

Afterpay customers are subject to Afterpay's terms and conditions and Afterpay will sort out these issues directly with the customer. Incomplete payments do not affect the status of the order or payout of funds received on that order.

How can I tell if a customer paid using Afterpay?

On the Order Details page in the admin, scroll down to Payments and click 'View Billing Information'. Here you'll see afterpay_clearpay listed as the Stripe Payment Method

Can ticket insurance be purchased using Afterpay?

Yes - The same terms & conditions and limitations for Ticket Insurance would also apply to purchases using Buy Now Pay Later.

What does Afterpay look like in Reporting?

Afterpay is a Payment Method Subtype of the Credit Card Payment Method. Afterpay orders will appear as Credit Card for the Payment Method (since that’s the method they are actually paid with), and can be distinguished from other Credit Card payments with the Payment Method Subtype column.

Filter and Grouping options for Payment Method subtype can be found in Tickets, Orders, and the Financial Items Report Types.
