How to Create an Event

This article covers to create an event within Leap Event Ticketing.

It is possible to create three different types of events within Event Ticketing: single events, event series, and event packages.

A single event is exactly that–one event for which customers can purchase tickets.

An event series consists of events that recur on a regular basis (ex: hourly, daily, weekly). An event series allows many instances of the same event to be created at once. Once the series is created, a single event listing will present ticket buyers with many dates and/or times to choose from.

This article covers the setup of both single events and and event series. To learn more about packages, visit: Create an Event Package.

Getting Started

  1. Click the Events tab in the Admin
  2. Click the Create Event button
  3. Click create under Single Event or Event Series

Details

On the first page of the event setup, you can edit the significant details about the event. For an Event Series, you will be able to set up the schedule in a later step.

  • Name - Enter the title of the event. This will be visible to any customers and visitors on your event page.
  • Event URL - Enter a customised name to attach to the event page's URL. Use what’s suggested or enter your own. We’ll automatically check it against our database to make sure your URL is unique.

By default, this name is the event's title without spaces or punctuation: http://events.ticketbooth.com.au/event/ticketbooth-event

Venue

Select a venue from the dropdown menu to specify where the event will take place. If the correct venue is not yet in the system, select the Create Venue button.

Refer to the Create A Venue article for further details.

Date & Time

The following date and time settings are for Single Events. For Event Series, you will configure the Event Schedule.

Event Start/End - Select the date and time when the event begins. This time is relative to the venue's time zone

Optional: Click Specify end date/time to specify when the event will end.

Optional: select Go on Sale Immediately to put tickets on sale as soon as the event setup is completed.

Optional: select Sales stop half an hour before the start date to end sales half an hour before the event starts.

About Event

  • What kind of event is this? Choose up to three categories (and/or sub-categories) for your event from the dropdown menu. These selections enhance the online discoverability of your event.

Note: You can add default categories and subcategories to Event Series, ensuring that all child events automatically inherit these categories.

  • Event Listing Messaging - Specify if the event is Ticketed or Registration. This option affects some of the messaging your customers will see during the checkout process (ex: "Register" or "Buy Tickets").
  • Age Restrictions - Select the applicable age restriction for admission to the event. If none exists, select All Ages. You can also select Other to specify a particular age and enter a short note about the age limit.
  • Privacy Settings - Select each of the privacy options you wish to enable. These options determine the accessibility of the event information in search engines and the seller homepage.
    • Private - accessible via a link
      • Your event will be hidden from your Event Calendar, unlisted on Event Ticketing event search and marketing efforts
    • Prevent search engines from indexing
      • Will block your event from being indexed by sites like Google and Bing.
    • Hide event in Box Office

Please note: Because of the way these search engines crawl websites, this setting is not instantaneous. For example, if you uncheck this and launch your event, and then you check the setting later, there is no guarantee if or when your event will be removed from Google.

Click Save & Continue. To continue building your event or series, Proceed to Step 2 - Inventory.
