Thermal printing uses heat instead of ink to print tickets for sale at outlets or at the door of an event. Leap offers thermal printing for clients who request it.
Thermal Basics
You can use a thermal printer for the following actions:
- Print existing individual sales from the Sales Details page in the Admin
- Batch print will call tickets
- Print new sales through the Box Office
Event Ticketing supports two types of printing: standard thermal tickets and tickets printed on an Epson receipt printer. See examples below.
Receipt printed tickets are much less expensive: the printer is less costly, as is the paper.

- Check the computer’s printer/devices list to confirm the printer appears.
- On the Boca printer: turn the power off for 5–10 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Open Sidekick
- Use the same browser for both Sidekick and the admin.
- Confirm the printer appears in the Sidekick printer list.
- Print a test ticket
- In the admin, navigate to a customer’s order.
- Click Ticket > Print Thermal.
- Select the printer that matches what’s listed in the Windows Printer & Driver screen.
- For example, if the printer shows "Copy 1" in Windows, select "Copy 1" from the dropdown.
- The ticket should print within a few seconds.
To test the printer, we always recommend printing an existing sale through the admin (before attempting to print a new sale through Box Office)
Sidekick is an application that helps you print thermal tickets if you are experiencing issues printing from your browser. Please read this Sidekick guide to learn more.
