How to Create an Access Code

An access code is a coupon that grants access to inactive or hidden price levels on an event listing. You can share your access codes with limited audiences to offer special pricing or private ticket types.

Access Codes do not work with Bundles.

Step-by-step Instructions

Before you can create an access code, you need to make your event and price levels.

  • First, you will need to set up the event that will utilize the access code.
  • During Step 2 - Inventory, create all price levels for the event.
  • For the price level/s you wish to lock behind the access code, edit the Price Level (found under the Event's Inventory and uncheck Active Online.
  • Complete and launch the event.

  1. Once you have successfully logged in, select the Manage button from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select the Add Coupons button in the middle of the window.
  3. Select Coupon Type Access and set the coupon name to be something which will help you identify it in your reports, e.g., “Promoter Price”, then set Code to be a code you would like to distribute, make it something hard to guess,  NOT “access”. 6 characters or more is perfect.
  4. Select Save and Assign

Selecting Events

The assign coupon page will appear, allowing you to assign the coupon to any events you are running. You can add more coupons in one go by pressing Add another coupon to this assignment.

You will be asked to add events to the coupon press Add Events and then select the events you wish to assign the coupon to, as they are selected they will move into the right column. Once all the events have been selected press Make Selection to confirm.

You will then be asked to either apply the coupon to all price levels or to choose individual price levels.

Access coupons must be assigned to price levels; they will not work if only assigned to an event.

Select the hidden price levels you would like this code to unlock.

Coupon Limiting

Select one of the following options:

Coupon limits apply to each selection individually – the ticket limit applies to each price level; e.g., a ticket limit of 5 allows five redemptions for each selected price level.

Coupon limits apply to these selections as a group – will allow the ticket limit to limit the total number of uses across all selected price levels. e.g., A ticket limit of 3 allows the coupon to be used twice on “Price level 1” and once on “Price level 2”, and no more thereafter.

Total Coupons Available: The maximum number of orders that can use this code

Limit per Order: The maximum number of tickets that can be purchased using this code per transaction.

Taggable will allow attendees to automatically input the coupon by appending it to the event URL in the format:
http://www.showclix.com/event/demo-event/tag/PROMO
(where your event url replaces demo-event and PROMO is replaced by your code.)

A start and end date for the coupon can also be set; consider this the coupon's expiry date, after which it will no longer be accepted.
